Yumi Nu Celebrates Missteps and Triumphs in New Single “25”

Exploding back on to the music scene, alongside breaking barriers in the modelling industry.

Pulling from alt-R&B / Indie influences, the New York-based, Japanese-American recording artist Yumi Nu has released her latest single, "25". In her own words, "25' is an ode to my growth up to this moment. I just turned 26. Still, in my 25th year, I had a lot of realizations and proud moments of how far I've come." The beautiful airy melodies, floating atop a grounding, funky bass line, and mellow beat, "25" is already an absolute bop and should be added to your morning playlist.

After starting out as a pop artist on Dim Mak records, Yumi took a two-year break to refine her craft. This led to an explosive return to music in 2022 with her debut EP "Hajime," meaning 'Beginning' in Japanese, an apt name for her new expression within the music industry. This was followed up by her single "Brittle," released in September, and now the incredible "25".

However, Yumi Nu is also an internationally acclaimed, barrier-breaking model, with achievements including being the first plus-size Asian-American on the cover of Vogue, being in the Calvin Klein campaign, and also recently starting her own inclusive clothing brand "Blueki" with mindfully made clothing from size XXS to 6X.

"This past year, I had a big detachment of who I used to be and who I am now, and this song talks about shedding that old layer of skin that you used to call home but doesn't feel right anymore."
