Reebok x Distortedd Drop Trippy New Sneaker
All types of fire.
Reebok have joined forces with Philadelphia-based visual artist Distortedd to create a psychedelic adaptation of Reebok’s classic Instapump Fury silhouette. Distortedd, born Anhia Santana, has previously worked with Nike, Adidas and Vans, projecting her vivid visions throughout streetwear culture.
The sneaker comes as part of Reebok’s “It’s A Man’s World” initiative, a collection celebrating women who leave their mark in a male dominated world and continue to break barriers. Producer WondaGurl and writer and activist Kimberley Drew are among the many who have contributed towards the campaign.
The white upper of the slip-on sneaker is splashed with a graffiti-esque illustration of sharp teeth, eyeballs and tentacles in an array of pastel hues, serving a sharp contrast against the white background. A translucent purple outsole and hand tag of Distoredd’s signature eye motif complete the look. On the insole of the shoe, a hand written message includes, “If you want something as a female, you have to TAKE IT, no one is going to give it to you.” Who doesn’t want a pep talk from their sneaker?
Speaking on her creation, Distortedd quotes, “To be honest, this design is just me regurgitating, like throwing up everything that I’ve built so far. The art is basically eating the shoe.”
The Distortedd x Reebok Instapump Fury drop today for a retail price of $180 on reebok.com.
