Yohei Ohno's Fall 2017 Collection Is All Space-Age Feels

POSTED BY ALLISON EDWARDS

Japanese designer Yohei Ohno presented a reto-futurist fall 2017 collection at Tokyo Fashion Week. Inspired by the 1920s Bauhaus movement, as well as iconic furniture design by Irish architect Eileen Grey, Ohno’s debut collection was confidently contemporary, despite all the historical references.

A vehicle theme seemed to permeate the line-up with seat-belt straps functioning as harnesses and dangling from the waist as belts while aeronautical engineering plans were cast onto dresses, skirts and outerwear.

In an effort to offset the industrial vibe and play with texture, Ohno injected touches of femininity into the line with delicately ruffled camisoles and sheer chiffon.

A futuristic explosion of ideas, Ohno’s fall 2017 collection provided plenty of original, dynamic pieces that perfectly juxtaposed a futuristic space-age vibe with a refined, chic aesthetic. Scroll through the entire range below.
