Chapter I: Nice To Meet You Y-3 FW18
Celebration of polite collabs.
This is not your typical Y-3 release. This is taking it back to the beginning of the partnership between Yohji Yamamoto and adidas. Titled 'Nice to meet you', this first chapter of the fall winter collection 18 celebrates the unity of collaboration between Japanese and German innovation, craftsmanship and tradition.
The campaign and release is a new refreshed Y-3, taking from the past and firmly planting its new outlook in the present. The editorial shoot is a story of colorful downtown LA youth in their natural habitats clothed in the real world. Each image a story in itself shot by the talented Angelo Pennetta and styled by Carlos Nazario.
The apparel is of exaggerated proportions and oversized with the collection stating "XXL is the new medium, and oversize is the new normal", incorporating adidas BOOST technology and Sashiko stitching. Y-3 sticks to its black coated double helix built with the DNA building blocks of white, navy, and bright yellow. The collection samples the best of both cultures. It can be inferred that this release is a cross cultural embrace of two world's shot in the streets of the most multicultural melting pot.
We don't just get apparel here, there is a release of two new limited edition sneakers, The Bynder Pack. The classic adidas Superstar is reinvented in a black suede upper with contrasting Sashiko style white stitching partnered with the white Superstar toe cap taking on the title The Bynder Super. The Bynder High is likened to an adidas Nizza Hight Top frame in a black nubuck with the same Sashiko white stitching as The Bynder Super.
Releasing today (June 29th) on Y-3.com, The Bynder Pack will exclusively release June 30th at the Y-3 flagship stores.
