Adam Katz Sinding Backstage At Wood Wood ‘The Low End’ Autumn/Winter 2017 Collection
Entitled ‘The Low End’, the Autumn / Winter 2017 collection from Wood Wood takes it’s inspiration from the silhouettes and style of 90’s NYC streetwear. The collection fuses style elements of golden era east coast hip hop culture with the contemporary fashion aesthetics of the brand.
Wood Wood founders Karl-Oskar and Brian grew up listening to hip hop in the early 90’s, and the style and looks of this era now provides inspiration for the A/W 2017 collection. The mix of workwear, contemporary sportswear in bright colours and prominent logos is evident in a collection that celebrates the streetwear of this era.
As a reference to hip hop’s adoption of nautical clothing, colour blocking and maritime signal flags are used as patches and graphic prints throughout the collection. The collection also includes various checkered stories utilised on coats and knitwear for both men and women. Classic pinstriped suiting styles go hand-in-hand with track suits, fleece hoodies and coach jackets in a collection that in typical W.W. manner mixes streetwear with contemporary detailing and performance styling.
The women’s part of the collection features typical 90’s elements such as high waists and A-line silhouettes. Detailing includes flatlock, contrast stitching and performance inspired trims such as rubberized snap buttons and elasticated cords.
Alongside the classic W.W. colours navy and blue, significant colours of the collection include bright red, moss green, pink, khaki, brown and bordeaux.
