A 37-year-old woman was shot by police at Dallas Love Field Airport on Monday after allegedly firing a handgun.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the woman, Portia Odufuwa arrived at the airport at 11a.m, and then entered a bathroom by the ticket counter at Southwest Airlines.

“She exited the bathroom wearing a hoodie,” said Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia in a press conference. “She produced a handgun and started firing. An officer who had seen her fired at her.”

Witnesses say Odufuwa was seen yelling about her marriage before firing. Travelers posted to their social media accounts while taking cover. Many relayed information on Twitter while simultaneously asking what was happening.

“At this point, we don’t know where exactly the individual was aiming,” Garcia continued. “From what we are seeing she was aiming at the ceiling. There are several rounds that were found.”

Odufuwa was taken to a hospital, no other injuries besides her being shot in the lower body were reported.

The New York Post has reported on Odufuwa in which she claimed to be married to Chris Brown and living with him. She also admitted to committing arson although no charges were filed due to a lack of evidence. In this same instance of arson, Odufuwa claimed to be “god’s prophet.”

June of last year, Dallas Judge Kristin Wade found Odufuwa mentally incompetent to stand trial for a misdemeanor case, but was not considered a danger to the public at the time. Odufuwa has been referred to mental health services on more than one occasion.
