Why Indya Moore Probably Won't Be Attending The Met Gala Again
Pose star Indya Moore takes to Instagram to share her feelings about this year's Met Gala.
While Met Gala go-ers celebrated the night away, a protest for racial and social justice waged outside. BLM protesters gathered outside the Met Gala to demand justice for political prisoners, demand answers from the NYPD, and remind people that there is no normal to return to for black and brown people after this gnarly pandemic. At least nine protestors were arrested outside of the event.
In an Instagram post, Gala Attendee Indya Moore wrote, "Being at the Met this year was cognitive dissonance. I entered and left feeling confused...People were protesting and arrested in the name of what so many of us who attended care deeply about. They were arrested most likely because they were perceived as a threat to those of us who were there."
There is nothing quite more American than police unnecessarily escalating a protest and forcefully removing people who are lawfully expressing their first amendment right, all in the name of preserving the glitz and glam of the night.
"This will probably be my last Met Gala." Indya Moore explained, "I am going to think long and hard about why I came and if it is truly in alignment with what I want to accomplish in this life, the stories I want to tell, and the messages I want to share."
