Why A-list Celebs Can’t Get Enough of Vetements?
If you haven’t heard of esteemed fashion house Vetements then you are living under a rock! The Parisian brand is all anyone in the industry can talk about since its rise to stardom in 2014. The level of mystery created by the anonymous design team led by Demna Gvasalia aka Balenciaga’s creative director has not stopped their colossal success – most notably International Urban Luxury Brand at British Fashion Awards 2016 on Monday. How could any fashion event in 2016 be complete without honouring their creative genius?
So why is everyone obsessed with Vetements? Yes, it has the best athleisure collections and the fashion industry desperately needs more brands, which showcase raw street style – alternative and fun best describe the label. But Vetements bold and unforgiving attitude to typically overdone collections keeps them ahead of the game. Their runway shows are a platform for the clothes we actually need and not the ones we fanaticise about and never wear – keeping the designs simple, while using a combination of both oversized and structural tailoring.
Vetements are revolutionary in the fashion industry, especially in 2016. A collaborate fashion show (using 18 brands) for Haute Couture Week in July was an innovative way to show off their strongest design elements. In terms of practicality this was brilliant – who actually wears one brand from head-to-toe? As for next season, they are breaking the fashion week norms once again Vetements made the bold decision to show their S/S 2017 collection in January and their A/W 2017 collection in June.
A-list celebs also can’t get enough of Vetements – their classic skater style hoodies are worn by the likes of Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez, Hailey Baldwin, Kimye and Rihanna – they are killing it!
