Where Personal Beauty Really Comes From

What really matters.

POSTED BY CONTRIBUTING AUTHOR

In a world where there is a prevailing beauty norm that we are often made to feel we have to match up to, it can be challenging to remember what really matters. In truth, if you are keen to look as beautiful as possible, you are better off focusing on what you personally hold to be beautiful, rather than what the rest of the world thinks about beauty. Though this is often challenging to achieve, it is something that is worth trying to remind yourself of from time to time. Let’s take a look at this in detail right now.

Your Definition Of Beauty

As we have hinted at, it’s vital that you are doing all you can to understand your own definition of beauty as best as you can. Getting to the truth of your own sense of what beauty is, and what it isn’t, you are going to be empowered to appreciate your own beauty a lot better. So what does it mean to you? For some, it comes from within, and for others it might be more to do with how you treat other people. It’s important that you can understand this as best as you can.

Deciding What You Want

When it comes to your physical appearance, the important thing again is that you are focusing on what you personally want to look like. It can be tempting to think that you need to fall in line with the beauty norms and ideals, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to. That being said, should you want to make a change that happens to align with those norms, that’s fine too, as long as it is your final decision and you are conscious about it. Going to Dr Jason Roth with your own specific idea of what you want is better than blindly following an ideal.

Inner Confidence

The relationship between beauty and confidence is quite complex. It can be easy to think that one automatically leads to the other, but this is rarely the truth, or at least not quite in that simple way. If you are personally confident, however, you will probably find that you are happier with your looks, whatever they may be. And if you don’t yet have that inner confidence, no amount of changing the exterior will alter that. It’s best to work on your confidence first and see where it takes you.

The Critic In The Mirror

We are all prone to being critical of our own looks in the mirror. But it might be worth trying to hold these judgments about ourselves a little more lightly. After all, the final judge who really matters is yourself, so it’s wise to be careful about what you are saying to yourself in those moments. As it turns out, the critic in the mirror is the only one you need to please. The sooner you can understand that, the happier you will be with your appearance, whatever it may look like.
