What Models Really Eat: The Good, The Bad And The Unbelievable
Take some ingredient inspiration from the Instagram feeds of the hottest bods in the business, and eat these four (unexpected) foods.
So you want a supermodel bod? Ditched the doughnuts – check. Exercise game strong – check. But somehow, the Karlie Kloss legs slash Kim K ass you’ve been studiously squatting and juicing for just aren’t coming to fruition. Fret not Fizzy fam – we got you.
So what are the professionally good looking really eating on the daily? Well, it’s not all quinoa and kale (shock, horror!). Prepare for a whole lotta lemon, a surprise sweet treat, the occasional carb (thank you god), and an onslaught of avocado. Always the avocado.
Breakfast: Did we mention avocado?
The model breakfast consensus from the likes of Candice Swanepoel, Miranda Kerr and Abbey Lee, is that the avocado reigns supreme. Thought this no-go ingredient was too high in fat? Pssh, avo’s got all them good fats baby. Add some eggs, or any lean protein, and you’ve got the winning combo for a body-slimming, booty-building breakfast.
Lemon’s legit slimming power According to Naomi Campbell, what you guzzle as you wake up is of utmost importance. Ditch the coffee and start your morning routine with the models metabolism-boosting brew: a mug of hot water and lemon. Even model powerhouse Miranda Kerr’s a fan of the good old lemon. She told Allure: “I put lemon on everything. I used to use so much salt, but I’m trying to eat less and use lemon as flavor instead.”
Carbs aren’t the bad guys Well, don’t dash for the doughnuts, but don’t ban the bread just yet. All over Instagram – and the general inter-webs we might add – models quietly tout including complex carbohydrates into their diets. Sweet potatoes, brown rice, butternut, and even gluten-free bread aren’t out of the question according to Alessandra Ambrosio and Kate Upton. Just reign it in and keep your portion control tight; something Joan Smalls learnt from her celeb trainer Marc Gordon.
Chocolate. (Sorry, what?) With our ever increasing access to the day-to-day lives of the rich, famous and obscenely good looking, a casual scroll through your Insta can be envy-inducing, but also eye-opening. Models. Eat. Chocolate. Packed with antioxidants, dark is the choc of choice for most models. In fact, Aussie hottie Abigail O’Neill swears so strongly by the health benefits of raw dark chocolate, she wrote a damn chocolate recipe book!
