Vivienne Westwood Mirrors The World For Ss16
Fashion’s non-conformist queen, Vivienne Westwood, highlights the plight of a tourist trodden Venice in her SS16 “Mirror The World” campaign. Shot by German photographer, Juergen Teller, in the alleyways, shipyards and palazzos of of the canalled city, the campaign addresses the impact of climate change; an issue which has consistently run through the hem lines of the designer’s collections in recent years.
Equal parts fashion designer and environmental campaigner, Westwood has said: ” I don’t even talk about the fashion. Mass extinction, only 1 billion people left by the end of the century – how can you talk about fashion?” However, if you did want to talk about the fashion: Mirror The World combines fabric leftovers to create knitwear, suiting and swimwear, with strong unisex tailoring, in a carnival of colours.
