The Chicago creative, Virgil Abloh has iconically collabed with Nike since 2017 with the release of the Nike x Off-White Air Jordan 1 OG Retro High ‘The Ten’; the most desirable and expensive sneaker in the world. Since this, Abloh has dominated the sneakersphere and given hype a whole new meaning through his expression of creative freedom in his footwear.

Via Instagram the designer teased the details of his forthcoming sneaker project with Nike, showcasing the shoebox design for the series. His caption writes, “Verified @off____white™ c/o @nike, summer ©2021 collection name is “Dear Summer”... it’s a whole thing…it was ©2017 i started drawing on those 10 Nike shoes. in my mind they are not literal shoes, but are more like sculptures a full-on art object made in multiple editions, somewhat scarce. they exist in a space all their own. where the plot thickens on the design side is the portal to tell stories as vivid as a HOV triple entendre or a Jeezy ad-lib…” In his image, the box sports a rough, edgy look dotted with black holes and accented with the hand-drawn Nike logo in the centre. So this box design definitely represents Abloh’s richness and variety he is known for and excites us for the upcoming styles.

According to zsneakerheadz, the 50-sneakers will have the same base colorway of grey accented with varying colorways on the laces, the Off-White orange tag to imbue Abloh’s signature brand aesthetic, and on a badge in the midsole, the number out of 50 the sneaker is in the collection. We’re sat pondering whether the box is giving us a cheeky revealing glimpse into the expressive designs of the footwear; suggesting a deconstructive vibe, characterized by trendy materials, stitching and colorways or if Abloh is going to drop something entirely different. We can’t wait for the king of the sneaker world to launch his pending collection and rock the crep game once more. There is no doubt this drop is going to be absolute fire and we can’t wait to rep the kicks alongside the master!
