The Best Strictly Come Dancing Halloween Costumes

Traditional monsters or famous characters from popular TV shows or movies.

Strictly Come Dancing takes Halloween seriously with an entire show dedicated to the festivity - the squad go all-out on a spooky-themed week that sees the dancer and celebrity pairs dressed as popular Halloween characters, whether they be traditional monsters or famous characters from popular TV shows or movies.

Strictly's Halloween week was introduced back in 2010, and since then there have been lots of amazing costumes which have brightened up the ballroom and topped off some of the eeriest and enchanting dances.

Despite some of the costumes looking, in the words of Craig Revel Horwood: "fab-u-lous", the accompanying dance routines have sometimes gone a little wrong for varying reasons, leading to celebrities being ejected from the competition. As such, many viewers of the show have already been placing their bets on who they think will be the next contestant to be eliminated from the show.

Betfair are currently offering their take on the latest Strictly Come Dancing Betting News, particularly on speculations for this season's winner. In the lead is Rose Ayling-Ellis, who's paired with professional partner Giovanni Pernice. The couple are already hailed as fan favorites and especially so after receiving a clean sweep for their Halloween week routine. The pair danced a mesmerizing tango to Shivers by Ed Sheeran.

Some of the most iconic Strictly Halloween costumes from over the series have been listed below.

Vincent Simone and Dani Harmer - Shaggy and Velma

Vincent and Dani dressed as two of the most iconic television characters back in 2012, dressing as Shaggy Rogers and Velma Dinkley from the Scooby-Doo series. Both were utterly convincing in the roles they played, with Dani, in particular, looking much like an alluring Velma as the energetic duo danced the cha-cha-cha, earning them a 27 and a top place on the leaderboard.

Giovanni and Faye Tozer - Skeletons

Performing a theatre and jazz-inspired dance to Peggy Lee's Fever back in 2018, Giovanni's cool choreography was enhanced by the slick and identical glitzy tuxedo costumes Giovanni and Faye were wearing. With half a skeleton painted on one side of their faces as they danced the precise routine, the pair earned a well-deserved 39, propelling them to the top of the leaderboard that week.

Kevin Clifton and Frankie Bridge - Elphaba

In 2014, Frankie Bridge astounded the judges and audience when she appeared as Elphaba, Wicked Witch of the West in an elegant tango routine. With a long dark wig, green-painted skin and glamourous green and black dress, Frankie was almost unidentifiable as she and Kevin, dressed in an appropriate matching green and black waistcoat suit, performed a spellbinding routine which earned them a magical 37.

Giovanni Pernice and Michelle Visage

Since joining the show in 2013, Giovanni has helped his celebrity partner top the leaderboard several times with his incredible choreography and routines. He has consistently topped the leaderboard every Halloween special since his debut, with 2019 being no exception. He and Michelle performed a beguiling foxtrot dressed as iconic TV couple Gomez and Morticia Addams, with both portraying the kooky characters perfectly as they danced, which earned them an impressive 39.

Halloween week has become a firm favorite for Strictly fans over the years and needless to say, we're already gearing up for the next one!
