Top 5 G.O.A.T with Foot Locker.
Last week, Foot Locker celebrated 45 years of sneaker culture, and to commemorate this momentous occasion, Alexandra Hackett (aka @miniswoosh) shared her top 5 greatest sneakers of all time. Alexandra’s menswear label ALCH, recently collaborated with Nike and Footlocker to create a custom shirt for Foot Locker staff, friends and family.
Before you look at the list, check out the latest Jordan 4 White Oreo 2021, which will be officially released on the official Nike website and select retailers. It’s a redesign of the original theme back in 1999. And now for the list.
Here are the Top 5 G.O.A.T Nike sneakers according to Nike-obsessed Mini Swoosh:
#5. The NikeCraft Tom Sachs Mars Yard 2.0
Number 5 in her countdown, is the first collaboration between American contemporary sculpture artist Tom Sachs and Nike. Although the original silhouette was released in 2012, Tom Sachs and Nike spent 5 years designing and testing NikeCraft Tom Sachs Mars Yard 2.0, which relaunched in 2017. It’s a perfect every-day shoe and that’s why the silhouette made it into her top 5.
#4. Custom Nike Air Force 1
The Nike Air Force 1 is one of the top-selling shoes of all time, so it comes as no surprise that these made it into the top 5 G.O.A.T silhouettes. Mini Swoosh chooses her own personal 1-of-1 customs of the AF1, which features all of the original Nike logos.
The Nike Air Force 1 became an icon immediately after its debut. You can actually design your own shoes using your own color palette. Don’t worry because it’s still made using premium materials. You can choose from smooth or rippled leather. You can then select matching sidewall and outsole. You can make your shoes stand out or keep it tonal, it’s up to you. For the final touches, you can personalize the back tab by selecting from two logos or using three characters of your own.
#3. Nike Air Max 97 Silver Bullet
Re-released back in 2017, the OG Nike Air Max 97 Silver Bullet made a comeback, almost 20 years after its original release back in 1997. To celebrate the comeback, Alexandra made outfits inspired-by and from original materials from the shoe for her friends and family.
The shoe design is believed to be inspired by Japan’s bullet trains but the designer, Christian Tresser, said that it was designed with the thought of mountain bikes. The metallic components of mountain bikes were the major inspiration for the shoe’s design.
Nike’s Air Max 97 was their first shoe that utilized full-length air as well as a hidden lacing system. The colorway of the shoes also gave way to its nickname, Silver Bullet.
#2. Nike Air Max Plus Sunset
More commonly known as the TN, the Air Max Plus was originally released in 1998 and was designed as a Foot Locker exclusive product. In 2018, the Nike TN Air Max Plus Sunset was released, which embodies everything that makes the silhouette so legendary.
Sean McDowell, the designer, said that before working with Nike, he used to hang out on the Floridian beaches. When he designed Sunset, he was thinking about palm trees against a beautiful Florida sunset.
#1. Nike Waffle 1973
Here it is, Mini Swoosh’s number 1 Nike shoe of all time: the Nike Waffle. The shoe was designed by one of the co-founders of Nike, Bill Bowerman, who used his wife’s waffle machine to create shoes for his track & field team. The current most-hyped shoe, the Sacai LD Waffle, uses design components from the original waffle silhouette. She states that it is a “timeless and iconic shoe and is her number 1 greatest of all time”.
