Sustainable Underwear, 3 Ways!

These three underwear brands all use different sustainable methods

POSTED BY ALICE FAY CROSS

There are things we can do to join the slow-fashion movement like shopping vintage and second-hand. However when it comes to our underwear, having good quality is essential, and we deserve the best for our peaches. This means we want to buy new, and that’s ok!

Luckily, there are lots of different ways that sustainable underwear can be made, and these three kick-ass brands are using them:

Stripe and Stare: Offer up a wide range of briefs and bras in lots of different fun and vibrant colors and prints. All their undies are made from TENCEL. A one hundred percent biodegradable fibre which is made from wood pulp.

We love the tie-dye knicker set you can shop here for $52, and the polka dot set classic brief and triangle bra set you can shop here for $46.

Bamboo Underwear: This brand uses bamboo viscose for its underwear, which boasts being 4 x more soft than cotton, as well as being more eco-friendly. The bamboo trees need very little water to grow, so are a much better choice than cotton.

On top of this the material is great for sensitive skin and has lots of tiny holes making it breathable – which we can all agree is very important for our briefs.

Their undies come in all shapes and sizes from boyfriend boxers to classic thongs. We love that the classic thong comes in twelve different colorways, shop it here for $23 or check out Bamigo boxers and briefs.

Lara Intimates: One hundred percent of Lara Intimates underwear are made from sustainably sourced deadstock fabrics, and not only do they run on a zero-waste policy, but they also make everything in their all-female factory.

The sustainable and girl-power brand offer briefs and bras. Their non-wired ‘Ava’ bra is designed with maximum comfort in mind, which is just what we look for in a bra. Finally, one that we don’t have to whip off as soon as we get home.

Shop the ‘Ava’ here for $60.
