Stussy World Tour Collection
Celebrating 40 years of Stussy.
In celebration of their 40th anniversary, Stussy have invited a group of designers to create their version of the brand’s classic World Tour t-shirt. The designers represent the cities and communities which have inspired the label, and include the likes of Rick Owens, Virgil Abloh, Takahiro Miyashita, Marc Jacobs, and Martine Rose. The brand commented that “each [designer] brings a different perspective, sensibility, and intention that juxtaposes with time tested Stüssy design language.”
Stussy will donate a portion of the net proceeds from each t-shirt to a charity or organisation of the designer’s choosing.
Shawn Stussy began creating custom handmade surfboards in his garage in the early 80s, signing them off with the now iconic hand drawn logo. In 1984, Shawn went into partnership with Frank Sinatra Jr. on an apparel line. Stussy’s initial venture into clothing was completely different to the brash traditional surf wear available at the time, and although the label emerged from a surf background, it soon transcended this. Shawn resigned as president in 1996 and Sinatra took the reins.
The 40th Anniversary World Tour Collection will be available in Chapter Stores, Dover Street Market and stussy.com on Friday November 20th at 10am pst.
