The SS24 runway season was bursting with various shoes from platforms to mules. One has been appointed the shoe of the summer – the kitten heel

The Kitten Heel: A Classic Returns

Introduced in the 1950s and popularized by Audrey Hepburn in the 1960s, the kitten heel is a staple shoe that has popped in and out of fashion for decades.

Dior, Gucci, and Prada were among the fashion houses showcasing micro-heels as part of their collections.

Y2K Revival and Comfort

The YK2 revival that has been present since the early 2020s could be playing a large part in why kitten heels have made a comeback. Or the consensus could be that we have grown tired of uber-high platforms and are craving a small, easier-to-walk-in shoe.

Whatever the reason, celebs are on board with the shoe of the moment.  Hailey Bieber added a pair of sleek black kitten heels to her maternity wardrobe as she arrived at Nobu wearing jeans and a leather jacket.

On the Streets of New York

While in New York to promote Twisters, Daisy Edgar-Jones wore a pair with a boho twist – the Judith Clog from Chemena Kamali’s debut Chloé collection. She paired them with a ruffled minidress (also from Chloé), a belly-button-length gold pendant, and an oversized leather bag.

With each new season, it is becoming more evident that the fashion world craves a more diverse shoe selection.
