SEVENTEEN’s BSS Encourages Listeners To Enjoy Their Youth In Latest Comeback
K-pop's most beloved subunit has finally returned to the music scene after 2 years.
On Jan. 8, SEVENTEEN members Hoshi, DK, and Seungkwan, better known as BooSeokSoon (or BSS for short), marked their subunit’s return to music with their highly anticipated second single album Teleparty. The group took over two years ago when they dropped their hit single “Fighting” featuring Lee Young Ji, and now they're ready to do it all over again!
Clocking in at 9 minutes even, Teleparty prioritizes quality rather than quantity, producing three tracks listeners can fall in love with upon first listening. The album also plays a key role in BSS’s discography, upholding the group’s reputation for creating high-energy, feel-good music.
It opens with the title track “CBZ (Prime Time),” an infectious song whose lyrics emphasize the importance of enjoying our youth by living in the moment. The single’s upbeat sound and catchy melody alone are enough to get listeners up on their feet, ready to do the trio’s equally fun choreography. (And if you check social media, you’ll find plenty of videos of people doing just that!)
“Happy Alone,” the second track on Teleparty, expands the idea of living in the moment to include celebrating oneself. It remains true to BSS’s signature bright sound, this time through an old-school beat reminiscent of the ones once great boy bands like New Edition used to make.
Rounding out the album is an R&B-influenced track titled “Love Song.” It shows a more sentimental side of BSS, recounting feelings of hopefulness that someday an old love will return. The trio's vocals hold so much yearning that it makes listeners hold on to that hope, too.
BooSeokSoon has significantly contributed to the return of fun music, instilling joy within all who listen. Teleparty is just as energetic and loveable as they are, proving that the best way to make lasting music is by enjoying what you do.
