Sara Chraïbi's Spring Couture: Come Along for a Fashion Ride!
Every piece whispers a story of resilience.
I just had to share the latest from Moroccan designer Maison Sara Chraïbi.
Her collection is more than just clothing this season - it's a profound narrative.
Sara's new collection is inspired by the devastating earthquake in Morocco last September. It's like she's transformed pain into beauty. She's used these rich earthy tones - think browns, ochres, russets, and deep purples - and enhanced them with gold, bronze, and copper. It's like she's paying homage to the resilience of the people affected by the earthquake. There's a depth of emotion in every piece that's just... it's incredibly moving.
She has shifted focus from her usual geometric patterns and celestial themes – I guess that's her architect side showing usually– and embraced these organic patterns. Imagine structural bodices with waves of metallic embroidery, flowing into chiffon skirts. It's like wearing a piece of art that flows and moves with you.
And there's this series in greens and blues, which she says are inspired by something beautiful that emerged amidst all that destruction. The kaftans and cloaks are stunning - layers of semi-transparent fabrics with gold embroideries and sparkling details. There's one gown, babe, with chiffon bands twisted at the waist –subtly revealing.
Sara's also exploring print for the first time. She created this remarkable coat with a print of the Tinmel Mosque, which was destroyed in the earthquake. It feels like wearing a piece of history. The same print appears on a shift dress that morphs into textured embroideries and a fringed skirt.
It's more than just fashion, you know? Each piece is a story, a memory, a testament to resilience and beauty in the face of adversity.
