Ruti, The Voice 2018 Winner, Reclaims Her Own Voice
Her fresh single is approved by Tyler, The Creator.
Warm and radiant, neo-soul vocalist Ruti, co-signed by Tyler, The Creator on her last single ‘Closer To You,’ comes back with a new song, ‘Sunrise.’ Dropping on January 22, it announces her upcoming EP, to be released this February.
The nonchalant and effortless track embraces the idea of self-love and pre-pandemic sense of happiness. Musically, Ruti collaborated with Wayne Wilkins, known for his work with Beyoncé and Leona Lewis.
We spoke to Ruti a few months ago about the process of taking creative control. As ‘The Voice’ 2018 winner, she had to learn how to reclaim her own artistic voice and build an independent musical persona. ‘Sunrise’ is a new step in her career.
Ruti herself describes the track as a reconnection with her own soul. ‘Sunrise isn't really about or for anyone in particular. In some ways, I wrote it for myself.’ And she sends a message through the song. ‘It's a reminder that often there's a lot more time to do things than I think I have and have to allow ourselves to stop or slow down sometimes.’
