Bad Girl Gone Good: Rihanna Announces A Charitable Collab With Dior
Proceeds from the “Feminist” T-shirts will go to Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation.
After becoming the first female artistic director of Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri debuted her spring/summer 2017 collection with a buzzed about political statement: “We Should All Be Feminists,” and this politically-charged message extended its presence far further than the catwalk. Soon after the Dior runway show, everyone from Rihanna to Natalie Portman could be seen wearing a T-shirt with the impactful slogan. Now, Chiuri is teaming up with Rihanna to further enlarge the tee’s influence.
On Tuesday, Dior announced a percentage of the proceeds from the feminist T-shirts will benefit The Clara Lionel Foundation, the nonprofit organization founded by Rihanna in 2012. The charity, named in honor of her grandparents Clara and Lionel Brathwaite, works to improve the quality of life in impoverished communities by promoting health, education, arts and culture.
“We are so proud to support the Rihanna project,” Chiuri expressed. “If you want to change the culture around the world, there is no other way but to invest in education.”
The shirts will be $710 each and available at all Dior boutiques and online until May 15th this year. A limited edition black version will be sold exclusively on Saks.com from March 14th to March 28th.
Maybe now you can reconcile the tee’s steep price with the fact that part of your splurge will be going toward a good cause. But, no, unfortunately you cannot write off your new Dior piece on your taxes next year. Sorry!
