Rick Owens' Cat Takes Centre Stage in New Sneaker Collab Line with Veja
Who knew cats could be so versatile?
By now, if you've kept up with the designer at all on social media, you'll know that Rick Owens has a tendency to post a lot of selfies of Gaia and Hortense, the Bengal cats that he and his wife, Michele, share together.
One of Owens’ lucky Bengal cats just made their fashionista announcement to the world by appearing alongside the designer in his newest sneaker collaboration with sustainable brand Veja.
The sneakers are 100% vegan and manufactured ethically in the Amazon. Debuting at Owens' AW19 show, the designer clarified that while he doesn't have the "authority to promote sustainability... we can all start somewhere".
Take Owens' unique style and fuse it with advanced technologies and the result are sneakers that are made using biodegradable materials such as sugar cane, rice husk, and banana oil. These materials are then coated with Brazilian natural rubber. Recycled plastic bottles are used to create breathable upper soles. The sneakers come in shades of black, dusty grey and beige.
