How To Shine At Race Day
Pastel colors galore.
I have a distinct memory of being taken to the races as a kid, wearing a blue frock, and being too young to enjoy it, spending most of the day rolling around in the grass.
As I've gotten older, I've come to realize that to many people, the races are something of a fashion contest. Simple kiddy frocks aren't cutting it anymore. When I went with my journalist friends who were conducting race day interviews, I wore a long yellow dress, white blazer and pink crossbody bag. I felt very elegant and summery, and think I did well to blend in.
Both of my friends wore polka dot dresses, and I saw many others opting for this trendy print as well. There were a lot of pastel blues, pinks and whites, and matching feather fascinators. If I were to go again, I would wear a fascinator and a shorter dress to feel a bit more modern.
Honestly, the race day looks were so phenomenal I'm sure elements of them are going to seep into my everyday wear.
