Petition To Axe Kylie From Cardi And Meg’s “WAP” Visual Reaches Over 54K Signatures
And I oop.
Kylie Jenner’s cameo appearance in the music video for Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s latest bop “WAP” has enraged fans worldwide. A petition that launched on Change.org to remove Kylie from the vid has since garnered tens of thousands of signatures. Ouch.
Many felt that Kylie’s appearance was completely unnecessary, adding nothing to the video or its concept. Writer for The Root Danielle Young argued that much of the frustration over the cameo stemmed from the fact that the video was a celebration of Black women’s sexuality. And Kylie, who let’s face it, has appropriated Black culture countless times, distracted the audience from the video’s aim.
Young also tweeted a video of Normani showing all the way out in the vid, captioning the clip “Normani did ALL this and Kylie walked down the hall and opened a door. If that’s not a perfect visual indication of Black women having to do the most and white women do the bare minimum to get somewhere, I don’t know what is.”
Cardi took to Twitter to fiercely defend Kylie’s cameo, stating, “Not everything is about race,” and argued that their families were close, complimenting Kylie’s hospitality towards her sister Hennessy and daughter Kulture at Stormi’s birthday party.
What y’all think? Kylie stay or Kylie go?
