As Bridgerton Season 3 is right around the corner, we’re set to see Miss Penelope Featherington take center stage as the main female protagonist of this season. After years of feeling lesser than in her family and high society at large, Penelope is taking charge of her life and her destiny. This newfound determination can be seen in the way she dresses.

A New Style Emerges

Here, we’ll look at how her new style is a massive change from her outfits in past seasons and how it narrates what could lie in her future.

Each prominent family in Bridgerton has their own distinct style and the Featheringtons are most well known for the fluorescent greens and yellows of their dresses, usually in combination with some sort of flower pattern printed in the fabric or embroidered as an accent. Penelope is no different, she’s usually found in sunshiney yellow dresses, hair done up in ringlets with a feather attached.

Distinct Featherington Fashion

But this is about to change. For Season 3, Penelope has taken to a much more muted color palette of dresses in minty greens and blues. She’s also let her hair down, flowing with wavy loose curls to better compliment her features.

Signaling Maturity and Change

Whilst the colors of these dresses with more subtle patterns are new for Penelope, they are also more low cut than her previous wardrobe, serving as a sign of her newfound maturity and that she is ready to fly the nest.

A Hint at Future Relationships

It could also be a subtle hint of who she ends up with, as blue is the color associated with the Bridgerton family. While there is currently a rift between Penelope and her best friend Eloise, she also has a history with Colin Bridgerton, the male lead of this season. The Featherington greens mixing with the Bridgerton blues could make for the perfect storm.

Setting the Stage

This deliberate visual storytelling perfectly sets the stage for what's to come. Part 1 of Bridgerton Season 3 will release on Netflix worldwide on the 16th of May, with Part 2 being released on the 13th of June.
