The Female Staff From The Overkill Women’s Store Describes Their Sneaker Collection To Us And More!

We’re legit impressed with their taste in sneakers.

Overkill, A.K.A. the go-to sneaker plug in Berlin, has managed to reign supreme in the men’s urban apparel retail-game for 16 years. And now they are shaping the women’s sneaker culture after successfully launching Germany’s first-ever women’s exclusive sneaker store. The idea of opening a sneaker shop for women and children in addition to the main store, all came about after they noticed a surge in female sneakerheads.

The Women’s store is truly a sneaker-girls paradise. It boasts stunning, white walls that envelope the entire interior. The sleek walls also feature the latest kicks and accessories sitting on top of golden shelves. The space’s furniture includes pretty golden palm trees – one word: OBSESSED! As well as stylish seating where you can relax after you shop-till-you-drop.

We got the chance to talk to Nadia who works at Overkill, about what it’s like to work at a women’s only sneaker store and what we can expect from the store in the next 2 years.

We’re SO excited to bring you to today’s interview! Please introduce yourself to our Fizzy readers!

Hey! My name is Nadia, I am 25 years old. I live in Berlin where I work at Overkill. Thank you for the opportunity to contribute to your magazine.

We love that your store has a slew of the trendiest sneakers in the game! What are your favourite sneakers of the season from the women’s store?

My favorites include the Nike Air Max 1, which I consider to be timeless. I also really like the Air Force 1 as well as the newly shaped Air Max 90. The classics, basically.

Nike Wmns Air Max 90

Shop it here for €139.95.

Nike Wmns Air Max 1

Nike Air Force 1 Premium

Shop it here for €129.95.

Are you a Nike, Adidas, Jordan, etc girl? Or do you just buy whatever catches your eye?

Definitely Nike as you could tell from my previous answer. The silhouettes as well as visible air are what I like most. I do wear other brands as well though, no discrimination.

Describe your sneaker collection for us

Well, apart from the NIKE pairs I mentioned previously, I also own some Adidas, New Balance, Vans, Reeboks etc. I do enjoy the variety.

If you had to pick 3 favourites from your sneaker collection what would it be?

That’s always a tough one to answer. Probably my Air Max 1 WMNS celebration, Air Max 1 chutney (or white hazelnut, as people call them).

I am currently switching between an all-white Air Force 1 and the AF1 x Travis Scott.

The Women’s store has gained immense popularity among female sneakerheads and has become the go-to place for sneakergirls in Germany, what do you think makes your store standout from the crowd?

We have a wide selection of shoes for all tastes, as well as kids and baby shoes. Apart from general releases, we have many great collaborations which aren’t available just anywhere. I think we have a solid balance between products for the everyday customer and more limited/sought after gems for the "insiders." The mix is probably what makes us stand out the most.

What is the dopest sneaker from your store that quickly fly’s off the shelf?

I‘d have to probably say the classic models. No matter what brand, classics such as Adidas Superstars, Air Force 1s, Old Skool Vans, etc.

Not only does your store offer the coolest kicks, but you also have the most killer clothes and the best accessorises for spicing up an outfit. What styling tips would you give our fizzy readers to create a cool Instagram worthy outfit?

To each their own. Wear whatever you think is fun. A good attitude is way more important than what´s in your wardrobe 😉 PS: what is an Instagram outfit, anyways?

What do you love the most about running a women’s only sneaker store?

I enjoy working with a wide variety of customers from all over the globe. I have also had the chance to meet many nice people in this community, whose company I enjoy a lot. I don’t think I’d have made all these contacts not working in my store!

The women’s store is honestly #interiordesigngoals, what inspired you to design it in such a modern and chic way?

The main goal was to create a feel-good area that is more than just a retail space. We want to give our customers a super nice shopping experience. One of the first things that came to mind when you think of such a space is a lovely and lonely island with palm trees and a nice beach. So we translated this into a modern shop design and created this little oasis.

Can you give us any hints as to what we could possibly expect from the women’s store in the next 2 years?

We will continue to provide the finest sneakers and the freshest apparel for all the girls and kids out there. And of course there will be some highlights like nice events as we used to put up in the past and who knows... maybe there will be a girls only collab in the future!?
