Onitsuka Tiger Unveils OK Basketball Shoes In Berlin
Celebrating 70 years.
Renowned Japanese brand, Onitsuka Tiger, held a Japan-themed mini-festival at their Berlin-based store. Celebrating the release of the OK Basketball MT and the OK Basketball Lo, the two shoes were heavily inspired by the original design which 70 years ago, established Onitsuka Tiger as a ground-breaking brand.
Ahead of the shoe release on January 15 in Germany, Onitsuka Tiger’s event included Japanese food trucks and beer. Production duo, Christian Rich, provided music such as Lagos-born twins who have collaborated with Childish Gambino, Earl Sweatshirt, Jaden Smith, and the late Mac Miller – and the afro-futurist, garage and electric soul artist Alxndr London.
Modeled on the original 1950s design, the OK Basketball MT and OK Basketball Lo both carry an essence of the OG shoe. Both featuring a simple and refined high or low textured upper, classic stitching patterns, metal eyelets, rubber patches and a timeless basketball silhouette. In keeping with Japanese history, the tongue features a heritage tiger logo to pay homage to the 1950s model.
If you want to get your hands on a pair, they’re available from January 15 at selected retailers.
