Heretic Parfum Collaborates with Nosferatu Film for Limited Edition Fragrance
‘‘It's a fragrance that will haunt you, but in the best possible way.’’
Directed and written by Robert Eggers, Nosferatu is not only the most highly awaited horror film of the year but promises to revive the vampire wave while starring an all-star cast including Bill Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, Emma Corrin, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, and Aaron Taylor Johnson – it will also become a beauty phenomenon. No, not when Lily-Rose Depp's character Ellen Hutter weeps blood, nor with the macabre long nails of the creature seen in the trailers, but rather with the collaboration with the fragrance label Heretic Parfum.
‘‘In partnership with Focus Features, Heretic is proud to collaborate on Nosferatu Eau de Macabre, a fragrance inspired by the iconic vampire,’’ the perfum brand writes on their website. With a top of petrichor and notes of lilac, musty aromas, violet, and velvety vegan ambergris, the scent departs from the traditional notion of vampires. ‘‘We wanted to move beyond tropes like blood, roses, smoke or candle wax and explore a very different idea of this creature of the night. Cold, pale and pellucid, this fragrance evokes the uneasy chill of encountering an apparition,’’ says Heretic.
Playing with both delicacy and sensuality, the eerie perfume is meant to evoke the smell of a meeting with the creature in the chilly, humid caves of Count Orlok's castle while reminiscing the forgotten innocence of Lily-Rose Depp's character, Ellen Hutter, who is haunted by the ancient Transylvanian vampire Nosferatu in 19th-century Germany.
Heretic Parfum is a fragrance company built on disruption, with many gothic scents such as Dirty Vanilla, Coeur Noir, Dragon's Blood and Voodoo Lily. Founded by Douglas Little, the label uses ancient perfumery traditions to create natural fragrances, all of which are vegan and cruelty-free.
Despite its long list of fragrances, with collaborations ranging from Diva Von Teese to sculptor George Sellers, Eau Macabre is the first time the brand has worked with a film. While the movie Nosferatu will only be in theaters this Christmas, Heretic Parfum has confirmed on TikTok that the fragrance will be launching next week.
