Nina Ricci's Fall 2017 Show Brought Vegas To The Runway
The fashion label created a rodeo circus for Paris Fashion Week
A cowgirl circus theme has the potential to go very, very wrong, but Nina Ricci’s Guillaume Henry successfully wrangled it for a graceful, beautiful, feminine lineup at Paris Fashion Week.
Henry’s playful instinct created a fall 2017 range full of joy. Understatement was balanced with overstatement for a collection that radiated a kind of chic that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The range featured westernwear’s shapes and detailing, and there was an endless swish of fringe and leather trim. Until this season, Nina Ricci avoided pastels, but this collection defined the subtle shades as a rodeo girl’s go-to palette.
For the circus element of the lineup, there were demonstrative shoulders, offbeat necklines and whimsical prints. Crazy? Yes. Tacky? Definitely not.
Throughout the entire line-up, Henry’s knack for soigné nonchalance was apparent, and the designer successfully explored a Vegas-style fusion in an extraordinarily refined way. View all of the looks below.
