Monday Morning Kicks Off: Nike Kd 9 “Unlimited”

POSTED BY ANTHONY COELHO

Once again it’s Monday, so as promised it’s time for us to highlight yet another pair of Nike basketball shoes for the Fizzy Mag following to jump on. Straying away from the ‘Air Jordan’ norm, this time we’ve decided to provide you with the hook-up on the latest installment of Kevin Durant’s signature Nike ‘KD 9’ shoe. After announcing the move from his beloved Oklahoma City Thunder to the ever-so-powerful Golden State Warriors, it seems as though it couldn’t come at a better time for Nike to capitalize on the publicity that’s been buzzing around the household name—KD.

We’ve already seen a handful of KD 9 colorways come to light this year, such as the American flag-themed ‘USA’ or the black/white ‘Mic Drop’, but this ‘Unlimited’ version comes as part of an energetic, multicolored theme that Nike has been running with to inaugurate the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. So while KD himself will be shooting for gold this summer, there’s no question whether or not we’ll be seeing these kicks sported on, and off the court.

Despite the base color being mostly black, many have considered this version to be the most vibrant of the KD 9 collection. For the first time ever in this series, we see an upper that features a rainbow-like Flyknit weave with volt accenting on the Nike Swoosh logo and tongue. This is then complimented by a gradient, translucent outsole that starts as neon in the front of the shoe but morphs into a strong, hot pink by the time it hits the rear. This lightweight shoe also features Nike’s Zoom Air technology for extended cushion and support (for those who actually decide to ball-up in these).

Scheduled to hit all Nike basketball retailers on August 4th, 2016 (the day before the Olympic games begin), this spectacular pair of Nike KD 9’s has been priced at a mere $150 (€135, £114,). This will without a doubt cause them to fly off the shelves as soon as stores open this Friday, no matter where you’re located. We’re not entirely sure if it’s worth camping out for these, as they will most likely be stocked plentiful, but hey! Do what you gotta do to get your hands and feet on ‘em! Peace.
