Nike's New Air Max Axis Is The Air Max 98 Of The Future
The electric car of the sneaker world.
Nike is riding the Air Max 98's 20th anniversary hype with the release of a brand-new Air Max 98-inspired sneaker. Taking what was futuristic then, and making it futuristic for now, the Air Max Axis is basically the smooth-silhouetted, smooth-driving electric car of the sneaker world.
You can trace back the style DNA to the bold lines extending from the laces, the wavey design on the side, the smaller Swoosh, and the “AIR” lettering on the lace hoops. But you can forget any OG materials; the Axis lays lightweight synthetics over a breathable mesh.
Perhaps the most obvious evolution, however, is the smaller Air Unit – also meaning that the price point of this pair will be much lower than its retro counterpart.
Get a closer look above. The Air Max Axis is due to release at Nike soon in a range of colorways.
Next up, our fave hybrid, the Nike Vapormax Plus, goes 'Reverse Sunset.'
