The new lookbook from popular Amsterdam based label Nieuw Jurk is here for your perusal. The talents of the vivacious and insightful label creator Esther Meijer merge with the endlessly perceptive Amsterdam based photographer, Carlijn Jacobs. The result is a shoot that is an enticing mix of hope and foreboding.
Esther Meijer, who has previously graced the pages of Fizzy, has been making it happen since 2009. She uses a unique approach when displaying her collections – by presenting them in a multidisciplinary way across a variety of platforms. The technique has given the label a standout, memorable quality.
Meijer takes inspiration from youth-culture and blends itâs sub-cultures into a multi-wearable, unisex style laced with a heavy dose of humour. Itâs not all about the LOLS though – she simultaneously explores social issues and plays with our ideas of body image. The result is vocal, over the top, but totally wearable clothes.
