New Kid On The Runway: Budapest Born Designer Fabian Kis-Juhasz
Wrapping female bodies with remnants of past centuries.
We have a new kid on the fashion week scene: Budapest born designer Fabian Kis-Juhasz who centers his work around the problematic nature of femininity, and the complex nature of womanhood and self-empowerment.
Fresh out of the London College of Fashion and Royal College of Art, the designers AW19 collection is fueled by a fascination with femininity and how it informed and shaped the feminine form to its current unattainable state over the centuries.
Fabian states that you don’t need to be a woman to be feminine and you don’t need to be feminine to be a woman. Molded leather pieces meet frills of satin and tulle to indicate the idea of a feminine body just to be interrupted again. Underlying a concept of abjection, the AW19 collection is romantic, yet has a touch of darkness to it.
