Nasir Mazhar Ss16 Presents A Crowd You Would Not Want To Mess With

POSTED BY FIZZY STAFF

It was sultry, mysterious and there was a sense of danger. As usual, Nasir Mazhar did not steer too far away from his signature style in his SS16 collection. The standard track pants and crop tops, the sportswear with a youthful twist were present and a central part of this collection. However there was something more prominent about this collection, which was the relentless black. It was an army of warrior princesses and sturdy, masculine males clad in all black. This is a crowd that you would not want to mess with. Both men and women were seen adorning unisex combat sneakers and armor vests. There was a distinct gender gap nevertheless, with women wearing volumnious, puffy sleeves and perpetually flashing their belly buttons and men covering up with camouflage track suits. The skimpy skirts worn by women were hardly inspired by combat wear, but that was okay; it was a modern take on feminine sportswear.

One of the striking highlights was the mask worn at the start of the show, setting the gloomy and and threatening atmosphere for the rest of the show. It felt like there was a more serious undertone to the garments presented. It wasn’t all about the sporty, underground youth; there were other historical references with the waistcoats and frills on the girls’ waists. The collection was dominated by men’s clothing, which is not surprising given it was showcased during London Collections Men. There were flashes of skin contrasted with the stark black; less so with the men’s garments that covered the entirety of the body at times. Details like zips, buttons and notable pockets made men’s jackets and trousers more compelling. It is sure to satisfy the expectations of a loyal Nasir tribe. Nasir’s past as a hat maker could be seen clearly from this collection with the signature caps and the spectacular hat-mask hybrid, and his skill was showcased with innovative head pieces. This mysterious and dark look will certainly turn some heads when the summer season arrives!
