5 Must-Watch YouTube Channels That Keep Long-Form Content Alive

These YouTube channels prove long-form content is still thriving.

POSTED BY ANIELA EFTIMIE

A few days ago, while scrolling on TikTok during my break, I stumbled upon a video claiming that YouTube is gradually losing relevance as audiences shift toward shorter content. When I shared it with a colleague, she immediately agreed, saying she prefers watching Reels or TikToks over YouTube’s longer videos. As someone who grew up with old YouTube, I found this quite heartbreaking. But it also got me thinking about the incredible channels I still follow there, whose engaging, meaningful content will hold your attention for longer than a few minutes. Here are a few of them worth checking out:

1. Moya Mawhinney- for those romanticizing moving abroad

I started watching her videos before moving to Dublin for university, looking for insights into the city. Now, her content mainly focuses on her life as a content creator in Paris, where she recently moved. I’d recommend her channel, especially to those studying or working abroad, navigating life in a new city. Her emotional reflections add a personal, comforting touch to her videos, like reading a page from a journal or hugging a friend you haven’t seen in ages.

2. Mina Le- for the thought daughters

If you’re into visual essays or content that follows specific themes (unlike daily vlogs, which can feel a bit inconsistent), Mina Le’s channel is a must-watch. Her videos dive into fashion, costume design, and media culture, often incorporating political, social, and economic commentary. Mina usually tackles complex or controversial subjects (check out her video on Ozempic), backing her opinions with thorough research and well-structured arguments. Besides, she expertly experiments with her makeup looks and outfits, making each video educational and inspiring for fashion enthusiasts.

3. Jack Edwards- for the book lovers

If you’re on BookTok, you’ve likely heard of him before. Known as “YouTube’s resident librarian”, Jack’s videos are perfect for readers and those wanting to start. What I enjoy most about his channel is the creativity he brings to his recommendation videos, such as books based on MBTI types or your favorite celebrity’s picks. His playful way of explaining

literature can easily pull you out of a reading slump or inspire you to try something new (he got me into classics more than my English Lit degree ever did!).

4. Birta Hlin - for your travel era

Originally from Copenhagen, Birta explores cities like a local—whether with friends, her boyfriend, or traveling solo. She’s visited most major European cities, and her videos boast a perfect mix of renowned spots and hidden gems. She tags most locations she visits, from trendy cafes with sweet treats to cool thrift stores, making it easy to follow along. I found her channel while planning a solo trip to Vienna, and her recommendations were spot-on. So, watch one of her videos and get that trip out of the group chat!

5. Tam Kaur- for your winter arc planning

If you’re looking to completely reinvent yourself or for efficient self-care tips, Tam’s channel is the perfect place to start. I discovered her right after a bad breakup, and her videos helped me regain my sense of self and confidence. Along with genuine dating advice from her own experience, she shares practical steps towards improving your life. Although her big sister approach might sometimes seem too harsh, this directness can spark in you the motivation to make lasting changes and reach the goals on your winter arc checklists.
