Board games are one thing that most people have enjoyed since some time ago. According to oldest.com, board games can be traced back to 3100 BCE; board games were found in Predynastic and first dynasty burials which date back this far. The name of the game is Senet, and this is the oldest known board game. No one is sure how these discovered games work or what the rules were when playing the game. The mere history of board games alone suggests that people enjoyed passing the time by playing board games for many past decades. Who can argue, what's better than inviting your friends over for a fun game night? Whether it's in movies, on your favorite series, or just plain reality, a board game is a topic that still regularly appears.

When you want to host the perfect game night, there's so much to consider; you can either set up an indoor play area, where you prepared some snacks and set out some ice cold drinks for the fun night ahead. If your crowd is more into the outside, you can also set up a table outside, maybe have a barbeque and enjoy the pleasure of beating your best buddies in a competitive board game. It's more likely that you'll be into board games when you're in a relationship, so while the singles are out and about trying to find their true love, couples usually tend to enjoy staying home and enjoying good company and, in some instances, board games. This doesn't mean that all single people would instead go out then enjoy a night at home playing board games and spending quality time with friends. This article will discuss exactly how to host the perfect game night and which games will get the competitiveness going.

Preparing For The Game Night

So when you're having guests over, you have to ensure that they'll be as comfortable as possible when they arrive; if it's cold, take their coats and put them away if you catch the drift. Guests visiting your home should be an essential aspect of your time, at least while they're there. It's usually best to put your phone away and focus on your conversations with your guests. Offer them something to drink, and depending on what you'll be eating, ensure they have what they need. If they brought their meat for a barbeque, offer them a drink and make sure their drinks stay full throughout the night. If you're supplying the food, ensure you don't eat too late. Usually, the gaming festivities should start after everyone has something to eat. If you want to go over the top, you can create and print some rules pamphlets to give to all your guests to ensure no one will argue about the rules the entire night; this happens. Also, make sure you supply some music for the background, allowing for a more comfortable atmosphere and a better night overall.

The Games

This is a crucial part of the night; in some instances, you might know which games your guests like to play, and in another scenario, you might not have a clue. It's a great idea to have a quick vote on which games everyone prefers. Just make sure when you're giving ideas for the vote, you either have the game or know where to buy it, if it wins the poll. It will ensure that everyone has a fair chance of choosing the games for the night. Some people like to get even more competitive to a point where they bet money on who will win; this is extreme, but if you and your guests are up to it, why not. So here are some games to consider and exactly how to play them.

Clue

Clue is a great choice, especially if you and your friends are top-notch investigators. So basically, how it works is there are eight rooms on the Clue games board; you'll need two to six players and a playing piece for every player. It doesn't matter in which room the weapon pieces start in. Separate the cards into their respective categories; suspects, weapons, and rooms, afterward shuffle each category's cards. Place one card from each type into the case file envelope. Shuffle the suspects, weapons, and room cards together. After this, you can deal all cards to the players; it's ok if some players have more cards than others. The game's objective is to be the first player to correctly guess the cards placed in the case file envelope at the start of the game. This is done via the process of elimination during the gameplay. Each player receives a sheet list of all the available cards; on this sheet, you can eliminate cards if you suspect they're not in the envelope. When you play, you use two dice and may move the number of spaces which the dice on the board indicate; when you get to a room, you can suggest a suspect, weapon, and the room you're in. The player left of you may show you a card that proves the suggestion wrong; this means you have a card to tick and move on with the game. This gameplay continues until a person makes a suggestion and can't be proved wrong.

This is an enticing game, and many people across the world love the Clue board game; it's astonishing how fast time can pass when you're busy solving mysteries.

Bingo

This is a fantastic choice. Many people believe that only the older generation plays bingo, but this has been disproved with thousands of younger adults starting to show an interest in playing bingo. This is also a great choice if you and your guests are willing to put some money in the pot. This may make playing board games even more exciting than just normal gameplay with only bragging rights on the line. Make sure you only play for money with people who won't get mad because they lost money; that can cause havoc. With bingo, everyone receives a playing card. This card contains numbers, and the objective of this game is to get five numbers in a row, whether it's; horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Firstly, you'll need a bingo set; many toy stores and hobby stores sell small and affordable bingo sets which contain playing cards, bingo balls, and a cradle for generating balls with random numbers and letters. Each turn, you need to check that the number generated by the cradle is not on your scorecard. If it is, it's time to tick the number and be on the lookout for the following numbers and letters in line to fill up your five-letter line. While you're at it, to lift the competitive mood, why not play some top songs to get everyone in the right spirit for the bingo game ahead. If any player has five numbers in a row, they call out bingo, then read out their letters and numbers to confirm the correct win. If no one calls bingo or the player who called out bingo is wrong, the process will continue.

Monopoly

Monopoly is played with two to eight players who receive a playing piece which consists of either; a dog, a car, a hat, and a few others. When you start playing monopoly, every player receives 1500 monopoly dollars. This board game is an excellent way of distinguishing between great investors and poor investors with a bit of luck, of course. The game is played with dice, and every player receives a turn to roll the dice. The number displayed on the die is the number of spaces you're allowed to proceed on the board. Remember to stack the chance and community chest cards on the board before playing your game. One player will be designated as the banker; the banker's responsibility is to distribute funds accordingly throughout the game and manage the properties, houses, and hotels. The game's objective is to become the wealthiest player by buying, renting, and selling property. So in hindsight, the more property you own, the more money you will collect via rent of other players landing on your property. The more you spent on the property with regards to houses and hotels determined the amount you will retrieve from other players. You may only purchase a property when you land on it, and other players should only pay you when they land on your property. That's about all of it. The game will continue like this until the most innovative investor is crowned as the wealthiest of them all. Oh, remember to collect $200 when passing by the start. Monopoly usually takes somewhat longer than other board games, but man, oh man, does it feel satisfying to collect rent from other players, be sure that your guests will love this one like the rest of the world does.

Irrespective of what game you decided on, make sure you have what you need and go out there and rule the board. After all, it's not every day you can determine what you do through dice portraying numbers. These board games, when played right, can put you in the most stressful situations, and getting out of them is what it's all about. Remember to keep your guests' drinks fun and enjoy your night.
