Miuccia Prada And Raf Simons Take On SS21
The collaborative collection we’ve all been waiting for
It has to be said, the fashion calendar has not been as exciting this year. Obviously this cannot be helped, but for those who live and breathe fashion week, it’s been a tougher ride. One of the events to look forward to, however, was Raf Simons joining Miuccia Prada as co-creative director at Prada. These two fashion pioneers joining forces was more than enough reason to tune in to the Prada show.
Raf Simons isn’t new to the business. From Jil Sander to Dior and Calvin Klein, he has a proven track record already. But how would his style translate at Prada, a house with a very distinct style? The answer is very well. The looks include monochrome pieces, pointed kitten heels and models walking around clutching their coats around them. Nearly every single look included a Prada logo applique, making sure you did not forget which brand you were watching. No looks were over the top – but each was thought out and chic.
In a Q&A session after the digital show, Prada and Simons discussed the collection. ‘It’s something in which you feel good in, which you can express what you want to express without it being a season-specific fashion item,’ stated Simons. To add to the intrigue of the big show, the set only included the models and camera set-ups. The camera screens would flash the name of the models as they walked by, as each of the models were completely new to the industry – giving them a head start in these tough times.
It’s safe to say the SS21 show has definitely got all of the fashion community’s attention for a good reason. We expect to see everyone in kitten heels very soon.
