Making A Big Fashion Statement in 2021
The clothes we wear can be a lot of fun.
Are you dreaming of making a big fashion statement this year? You’re not alone! As many of us are dreaming of being able to return to normality (or as close to it as possible), we’re also dreaming about what we’re going to wear. Making a statement with the clothes we wear can be a lot of fun, and pretty much everybody will be getting dressed up to celebrate our new found freedom. If you want to make a big statement, here are some pointers:
Don’t Assign Gender To Clothing
Assigning gender to certain pieces of clothing limits our outfit choices substantially. If you’ve always wanted to wear a ‘mens’ style suit, wear one. Get creative and mix up different pieces. Take a look at the people who do this well, such as Harry Styles, Billy Porter, and the abundance of super models who clearly don’t assign gender to clothing. The world is waking up, and while certain pieces of clothing will still likely be targeted to specific genders for the foreseeable, it’s up to you to break those gender norms and show people how it's done.
Experiment With Shape
Experimenting with the shape of an outfit can have a huge impact on the overall look. Puffy sleeves pretty much always add a dramatic feel to an outfit, but you can add drama in many other ways. The key is to worry less about ‘body types’ and what supposedly suits yours and just go with what you think looks arty or interesting. If you limit yourself to what the media tells you suits your body, you’ll be left with very few options.
If You Like Something, Wear It
This is the golden rule of style and developing your own personal style. If you like something, just wear it. Many of us are conditioned to care about what others think, but if we live our lives trying to please others, we’ll only end up unhappy. You can’t please everybody no matter what you do, so try to listen to your gut more and do what makes you happy. Eventually, people will get used to you standing out from the crowd, and you might even find that your nearest and dearest come to you for fashion advice. Even if they don’t, it doesn’t matter. The only person who really needs to like what you wear, is you.
Continue Building Your Accessory Collection
Accessories have the power to change an outfit in no time at all. Piling on chunky necklaces can add instant interest to a black t-shirt, for instance. Wearing designer cufflinks with a snazzy suit will definitely help you to make the outfit feel more put together. Fill your accessory collection with quality pieces that you can mix and match.
Express How You Feel
Use your fashion choices as a chance to express how you feel. This doesn’t just have to mean wearing slogan t-shirts, although it can. Use color, pattern, and texture to tell people about yourself. Styling your clothing can be the perfect creative outlet.
