Konnichiwa, Grime!
Azealia Banks basically said that UK rap is not that good with statements like “the UK really canât rap thoughâ and called the British scene âa disgrace to rap culture in general.â We actually have to disagree and take a deeper look at the latest development and contribution of Grime, a music genre primarily developed from UK garage and jungle beats and flows.
Much of what happens in the UK grime scene is lately spilling over into the world…again. It’s probably the fourth or fifth wave of this music type with aspirations to go global. But why didn’t it never got its deserved commercial success? Prominent artists that stylized this genre include Skepta, Dizzee Rascal, Ghetts and Kano, Lethal Bizzle and Wiley. And it’s Skepta who dropped his fourth anticipated album “Konnichiwa”, making Grime a long talked topic again. And “it’s shutdown”.
Even Kanye West and Drake flirted with the sound of the relatively recent music genre and rumored collaborations. However this album is the piece to listen to right now.  It is said that”âKonnichiwaâ is a landmark in British street music, a record good enough to take on the world without having to compromise one inch in the process.” But maybe it is meant to stay a UK thing forever…
