'Kimye' Is Officially Over: Kim Has Filed For Divorce
It's the end of one of the most iconic celebrity couples.
After almost seven years and four kids together, 'Kimye' is officially over. Kim Kardashian West, after months of speculation and rumor, finally filed for divorce on February 19th.
The writing might well have been on the wall for some time, after Kanye West went on a number of public rants last summer, publicly asking for a divorce and branding his mother in law 'Kris Jong-Un'. The rapper also embarked on an ill-fated presidential campaign.
Kim has hired notorious Hollywood divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, the reported inspiration for Laura Dern’s character in Marriage Story, to represent her.
It’s not the first time she’s worked with Kardashian; Wasser also represented Kim during her split with NBA player Kris Humphries. Clearly becoming a family favorite, Wasser then went on to work with sister Khloe Kardashian and ‘momager’ Kris.
The divorce papers, obtained by the Daily Mail, state that Kim is seeking joint physical and legal custody of the kids. This can be done with the assistance of an exceptional joint child custody attorney. They also reveal that neither party plans to contest the pre-nup.
