Kayne really does love Kanye.

Rapper and fashion designer Kanye West has filed court documents to change his name to Ye legally.

West filed documents with the Los Angeles Superior Court, intending to change his name Kanye Omari West to Ye. West took the move due to “personal reasons”, and West does not intend to add another first name or surname. A judge will need to approve his filing.

The move to change his name comes almost three years after his tweet about “the being formally known as Kanye West” to becoming “I am Ye”. The rapper believes the abbreviation of his name has religious significance for him. The rapper posted the tweet months after the release of his album Ye.

In 2018 when discussing his album with the radio host, Big Boy West said he believes “‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means ‘you’. So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us.”. West noted that the change from Kanye to Ye is a reflection of “our good, our, bad, our confused, everything”.

The rapper is due to release his newest album, named Donda, after his mother soon. He is also going through a divorce from reality star Kim Kardashian after seven years of marriage. He has plans to run for president in 2024, after his failed campaign in 2020.
