James Charles Hit With Criticism Over Fake Pregnancy Video

James Charles might have started his latest video by saying he didn’t want to ‘make light of pregnancies’, but that hasn’t stopped the beauty guru from facing criticism over it online. 

The video, titled ’24 Hours Being PREGNANT!!’, sees James take on a series of challenges set by his friend and influencer, Laura Mellado. Some of the tasks set included experiencing simulated contractions and trying to get out of a car with a prosthetic bump. Laura is currently expecting her second child. 

On Instagram, James shared a nude photo of himself with a prosthetic baby bump to promote the new video.  
James has now been accused of making light of the difficulties faced by women who struggle to conceive or face difficulties whilst pregnant.

The shoot even lead to some fans accusing James of mocking pregnant pop-star Halsey directly.

Fans were quick to spot the similarities between James’ photoshoot and Halsey’s own pregnancy announcement, pointing out the similar poses and backgrounds in both. In the video, one of James own team-members can even be heard calling the look ‘very Halsey’. 
Halsey has been open about her past miscarriage and endometriosis – a condition which can make it tough to conceive. As a result, some fans saw James’ video and photoshoot as mocking ‘everything that she’s been through’.
