The members of Generation Z are also called digital natives as they were born into the age of the Internet. They have been exposed to it from an early age which is why you can say they’re hooked to the Internet. The digital world of today is their playground as they have multiple sites, games, apps, and platforms at their fingertips.

With exposure like this, it’s difficult not to be familiar with technology. There are several tech factors that have influenced Gen Z. Today’s world is interactive and it’s mostly online which is why these factors come into play.

The Rise of Gaming

The world of gaming has come far. It’s a world that’s mostly online nowadays as there are countless online RPG and FPS titles that players enjoy. Most of these players are Gen Z as they can spend some time with their friends online. There are sites dedicated to online gaming communities. Even the iGaming industry comes with lots of sites dedicated to live casino players and their favorite games.

Games such as DOTA 2, League of Legends, PUBG, Fortnite, and others require players to have a constant online presence. So, besides having fun with your friends, Gen Z players can spend a lot of their free time online looking for new gear, missions, or bosses to defeat. They’ll spend hours upon hours looking to take their character to the next level so they can do better in the game.

As they’re members of the modern era of gaming, they will more likely go for games with amazing visuals than old-school titles. The mechanics need to be on point too as they’re not that patient with a game that offers clumsy mechanics. Another important factor to Gen Z spending time online is the impact of social media.

The Impact of Social Media

Back in the day, there weren’t lots of social media apps. But today there are and being the digital natives they are Gen Z will have accounts on the lot of them. Instagram and WhatsApp are some of the more popular ones with this generation. The thing about them is that social interaction, just like gaming, is online nowadays. They’re more likely to post stories and pictures and talk with their friends via Messenger or other similar social media because it comes naturally to them. Social media is hip as it has millions of followers and members, and Gen Z feels the need to be a part of them making the impact of social media one of the factors that influences the members of Generation Z’s online presence.

The Usage of Smartphones

Personal Computers are and will be in use in the coming years. They’re great for both work and gaming, but most people spend their time on the go which is why they need portable computers. When someone says portable computers they mostly mean laptops, but Gen Z will refer to smartphones. They are much more exposed to them as they’ve come in contact with such devices from an early age.

More importantly, these devices come with all the kinds of apps they’re used to. In other words, they have Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and other apps on their phone. If they want to play some games, they can download them from the App Store and enjoy them on the go. As future members of the workforce, they have the necessary apps that they would work with.

The fact that the digital world is accessible on the go is nothing new to Gen Z. Being the digital natives that they are, they will continue expanding their online presence by interacting with their friends via social media, various online games, and continuous usage of smartphones.
