I May Not Live in Wuthering Heights, But My Closet Does
A little goth, a little soft, and a lot of romantic energy.
I don’t know how you spent your weekend, but I spent mine in the theatrers watching Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. The cinematography and moody landscapes were everything, but my eyes were glued to the wardrobe – every dress Margot Robbie wore was stunning. I was already on a personal journey to add more whimsy into my life, but after this weekend, I’m fully commiting vamp romantic core in my closet.
To me, vamp romantic core is a little goth, a little soft, and a little romantic – like edgy meets lace. Wuthering Heights perfectly embodied this in their period outfits with the flowing skirts, corsets, and bold colors. But now, I’m bringing that energy into my daily outfits. My goal is to sprinkle in a little whimsy, not total overload. So, I’m making my outfits more vamp romantic by adding textures like velvet, lace, satin, and leather. A lace slip peaking out underneath a sweater is the easiest way to add a little bit of romance without trying too hard. My new go-to errand-running outfit is a sweater, flowy lace skirt, and heeled boots. It’s still casual and comfy for errands, but it’s also fun, romantic, and stylish.
Other small ways I’m living in the vamp romantic core? Dark florals, corset-style tops, leather details, and soft blouses. For accessories, I’m living for chain necklaces and ribbons in my hair. The kind of energy that turns everyday moments into cinematic ones. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going fully gothic wardrobe, just sprinkling in textures and details that feel dramatic, but still wearable.
