How To Get Rid Of Facial Hair Naturally
No pain, GAIN GAIN GAIN.
If you are one of the many women dealing with unwanted facial hair, you'll know that the STRUGGLE IS REAL. Excess facial hair can be caused by many things – including, you know, just being a human mammal with an average of five million follicles – and more than just being an embarrassment, it can seriously damage a person's self-esteem.
If you ask us, nobody should have to feel ashamed of the hair naturally growing on their body – that's society's problem, and society really ain't as pretty, plucked and preened as it likes to make out. Still, if you pluck up the courage to literally tear out that hair, or any number of other painful, time-consuming and skin-damaging options, you are often left feeling just as crappy as when you started. Unnecessary embarrassment + unnecessary discomfort = some kind of living hell.
Because you deserve a treatment as heavenly as you are, we've come through with five much less extreme – totally safe and painless, in fact – natural hair removal remedies for you to try, sans the side effects. Let us know how they go!
Gelatin Peel-Off Mask
The gelatin peel-off mask is one of the best known facial-hair-busting remedies. Though it can get a little messy and smelly, the odeur can be lifted with a few drops of lemon juice and essential oil. And look, Miss Jello Face, as for the mess, things have gotta get worse before they get better.
GET YO'SELF:
- 1 tbsp of unflavored gelatin.
- 2-3 tbsp of milk
- 3-4 drops of lemon juice
- 1-2 drops of your favorite essential oil
DO IT YO'SELF:
In a small bowl, mix all of the ingredients together. Microwave the mixture for 15 to 20 seconds, making sure that it's not burning hot, and immediately apply it to problem areas of your face. Do not apply close to your eyes or eyebrows as it sticks fast. Leave it to work its magic for five minutes, then peel it off and behold the disgustingly satisfying sight of unwanted hair and blackheads stuck into the dried mask.
Egg White Mask
Eggs, as we all know, are packed with protein essential for great skin. But, what they do even better is provide nutrients to the skin to aid collagen production. Egg white masks are also great for hair removal as they stick beautifully and dry out easily. When ripped off, the mask plucks out the hair much less brutally than traditional wax.
GET YO'SELF:
- 1 egg white
- 1 tbsp of sugar
- 1/2 tbsp of cornflour
DO IT YO'SELF:
Begin by dropping the white of one egg into a bowl. Add the sugar and corn flour and beat the mixture to a completely smooth paste. Apply it to your face and let it sit until it dries out, before ripping it off to pluck the hair out with it. To avoid damaging your skin, hold the skin taut with one hand, and keep your 'pulling' hand as close to skin as possible.
Papaya and Turmeric Mask
Did you know that papaya contains a wonder enzyme, papain, which literally breaks down hair follicles? In turn, it also inhibits hair growth, just as Revitol Hair Removal Cream does. Add turmeric into the mix, which also slows hair growth, and what do you get? Facial hair's worst nightmare.
GET YO'SELF:
- 2-3 roughly chopped papaya pieces
- 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
DO IT YO'SELF:
Using your fingers or a fork, mash the pieces of papaya with the turmeric in a bowl until you get a thick, consistent paste. Then gently massage the mixture into your skin to ensure it gets properly absorbed. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then wash off with warm water. For optimum results, repeat this process every two weeks.
Basil Onion Paste
Basil onion paste is a unique and naturally effective way to get rid of facial hair. All it requires is a little bit of extra work – and a few extra tears, let's be honest – removing the thin membranes from between the layers of onion. You'll see though, it's totally worth it.
GET YO'SELF:
- 2 onions
- 10-12 fresh basil leaves
- A pestle and mortar
DO IT YO'SELF:
Start by slicing two onions in half. Using a knife, remove the thin membrane from between all of the layers. Add the onion membranes to the pestle and mortar along with 10 to 12 fresh basil leaves. Apply the paste and allow it to sit for up to 20 minutes. You'll know if you've left it on for too long because the skin will begin to feel like it's burning – try not to do that, basically. Then wash off with lukewarm water.
Lemon Juice and Honey
The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory lemon juice and honey mask is a classic. Sticky by nature, it helps to easily remove even the finest hair from the face. Lemon works as the perfect cleansing and exfoliating agent. Whereas honey helps to soften the hair with its hydrating and moisturizing properties.
GET YO'SELF:
- 1 tbsp of fresh lemon juice
- 4 tbsp of honey
DO IT YO'SELF:
All you need to do is mix the two ingredients well and apply to the face. Leave the mixture on for 15 to 20 minutes, just like any other mask. Then gently remove it with a washcloth soaked in lukewarm water. To get rid of facial hair completely, do this at least twice a week for few months.
The results of any of these treatments may not be as instant as you might have experienced with Revitol Hair Removal Cream or others, but good things do come to those who wait. When you begin to see the results of these natural remedies, you – and your skin – may just fall in love with them.
