Gucci’s Latest Campaign Pays Homage To Stanley Kubrick Films

The campaign references iconic scenes from multiple Stanley Kubrick films.

If there is anything Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele knows how to do, it’s to take a fashion campaign and masterfully intertwine it with exceptional storytelling. Michele has taken inspiration from another legendary storyteller, Stanley Kubrick, and applied it to the latest Gucci campaign. The campaign drew from iconic scenes from Kubrick’s films such as Eyes Wide Shut, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange and Barry Lydon and incorporated them into the project.

The campaign features clothing from the “Exquisite Gucci” collection which was revealed during the Fall/Winter ‘22 season during Milan Fashion Week. “Exquisite Gucci” was also a seamless collaboration between Gucci and Adidas. The captivating aesthetic of Gucci combined with the casual essence of Adidas created a fascinating collection that consisted of striking colors, bold silhouettes and eye-catching patterns.

The models chosen were meant to distinctly resemble the actors and actresses that were in the respective Kubrick films. Michele speaks on recreating the stories told by Kubrick whilst forming a whole new world with Gucci.

“I’ve always been charmed by cinema. For its power to tell stories that can probe human adventure and its drift,” said Michele in a statement. “I’ve always imagined my collections as films able to convey a cinematography of the present: a score of stories, eclectic and dissonant, that can sacralize the human and its metamorphic ability… [Stanley Kubrick’s] ability to build stories that exceed significance, crossing borders and setting labels on fire, has always been deeply inspiring to me.”
