From Runway To Red Carpet: Greta Gerwig At Cannes
Styling Margiela outside of the runway.
Greta Gerwig wore Margiela to the Cannes Film Festival jury photocall and she left everyone in a stir. The dress itself is from the Spring 2024 Haute Couture collection which drew incredible levels of attention thanks to not only the stunning dresses but the showmanship. The doll-like image created by the makeup done by the legend that is Pat McGrath and the very specific direction given to the models. People were understandably entranced.
The dresses are beautiful on their own so it's no surprise that we got to see one so soon outside of the runway setting, and who better to transform it from runway to red carpet than Greta Gerwig. We've gotten a good grasp of her red carpet looks this year with her countless award nominations. Her look is not a performance, her look is downstated in the perfect kind of way that lets the dress do the talking and communicates her down-to-earth nature.
This time she wore the dress unaltered, keeping the gorgeous hourglass silhouette. But the style was far more light and summery perfect for Cannes in May. The look was styled with Louboutin tabi heels, designed to go with Margiela dresses. All in all the outfit is a world away from its runway look but embodies the romantic style it was designed with.
