Gisele Bündchen Takes Back Her Fashion Crown

Iconic then, iconic now. Gisele is back!

POSTED BY SUMAIYAH AKHTAR

After an almost 8-year hiatus, supermodel Gisele Bündchen returned to the fashion world at full force. Though she has officially retired from her catwalk duties, her path as an editorial model continues to thrive in 2023.

Gisele can be defined as runway royalty and the pinnacle of fashion. Between 2002 and 2017, she was the highest-paid model for 15 years in a row. Her $400 million net worth makes her one of the wealthiest female business owners in the sector. The Brazilian beauty has appeared on over 1200 magazine covers, including 142 Vogue issues. The supermodel took time off from modeling in 2015 to raise her children and pursue other opportunities, but she has since returned.

Gisele's new era began after her divorce from NFL star Tom Brady, when she graced the cover of Vanity Fair in March; she's had back-to-back work since then. With a new Vogue Brazil cover, ads from Jimmy Choo and Colcci, as well as a renewed endorsement with Victoria's Secret for their new icon collection, it’s safe to say she is booked and busy. The new VS campaign has her join the likes of Naomi Campbell, Adriana Lima, and Candice Swanepoel.

Giselle established her celebrated status as a Victoria's Secret Angel between 1999 and 2006, with numerous spectacular runway moments and editorials. My personal favorites were from the Victoria's Secret fashion show in 2005 where she strutted in a $15 million fantasy bra, her being unfazed as PETA protested against her in 2002, and 2006 when she ignored a flirty Justin Timberlake while he performed "Sexyback." Take a look.

Bündchen's return demonstrated why she gained her supermodel reputation, and we can expect to see more as she continues to take over. And here’s hoping she changes her mind about the runway.
