POSTED BY TENAI PALOMINO

Introducing the all-female, all-empowering, all-fierce album ‘QUEENDOM’, a brand new project celebrating the talents and sounds of a collection of buzzing up-and-coming artists. The album is set for release on March 6th, marking the worldwide celebration of International Women’s Day 2 days later on the 8th.

Due to feature on a special episode of RISING – a new show from Music Gateway –the project aspires to spotlight female artists doing the damn thing against the backdrop of a historically male-dominated urban scene. The artists whom have created the next level tunes for the album showcase pop and urban music, with each track celebrating a different theme and inspiring women everywhere to release that inner bad bitch.

The album’s lead single ‘High Life’ by the crazy-talented Sheddy Maria, who’s sound has been compared to that of MABEL’s, has been praised by BBC Introducing West Midlands for its ability to chart globally. The track reflects Sheddy’s flamboyant and magnetic energy that sold out shows across the UK have been gifted with experiencing first hand.

After the single’s release on 10th January, critical acclaim started flooding in, with Alex Scott from WCRfm stating, “One of the most talented artists I have witnessed perform live onstage.” O2 Academy Islington also commented on the track’s effortlessness and Sheddy’s “heavenly vocals.” Get it, girl!! Stream the single on Spotify here.

On being asked what ‘QUEENDOM’ means to her, Sheddy maintained that she couldn’t pass up such an opportunity. “My music that has been released so far is all about female empowerment and talks on relatable issues for women, so the Queendom album was the perfect platform to showcase my message!” She further discussed the importance of female presence within the charts, saying she felt women were slowly beginning to gain their rightful place. She praised innovative female artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat and Billie Eilish for unapologetically being themselves and sharing their unique style and talents. And we definitely agree.

The ‘QUEENDOM’ project will include music from Sheddy Maria, Sahfy, Jamie-Lee, Lekky, Sophia Lee Soul, Jay L'Booth, Tamara Cherelle and Elessame, and producers include James 'JDS' Sewell (Exec Producer), Vanessa 'Ms Vame' Jackson and Renee 'Black Orchid' Brown. The album will be available to stream on all platforms from March 6th.
