Five Ways to Style a Plain White T-shirt

When in doubt, the plain white tee is usually a safe bet. It’s simple, effective and goes with almost everything. But with all the options at our disposal, it’s easy to get complacent and just throw it on without thinking, or forget about it altogether! Fear not, however – there are always ways to spice up your trustee t-shirt look, and I’ve compiled some tips sure to give your t-shirt the life it deserves.

1. Tie a Knot

To make your outfit a little more girly or perhaps show off your waist, try tying a knot. It might be worth going up a couple of sizes to ensure you’ve enough material to play with. There’s a whole range of knots and guides are easy to find online.  

2. Wear it as a dress

Speaking of sizing up, why not wear it as a dress with a belt? Not only does this break it up with a different tone and texture but it also highlights your shape.

3. Add Jewellery

A necklace is an easy way to add personality to your outfit. A thin chain or pendant necklace would provide a bit of sparkle, and a chunky statement necklace would inject a touch of bling or color. You’ll go from looking practical to unique in seconds, while still feeling comfortable. This also goes for bracelets and earrings.

4. Layer Up

Layering is back, and a surefire way to elevate your white t-shirt is to put something strappy over it. This is the perfect solution for that jumpsuit with the low neckline that you’ve always been iffy about. It also ensures a bit of warmth when there’s a chill in the air.

5. Pair with a Skirt

Posh meals out and theatre trips rarely make it out of the group chat, leaving that beautiful flowing skirt you bought unworn and unloved. It doesn’t have to be this way; combine the skirt with a t-shirt and pumps and it’s suitable for everything from grocery shopping to walking the dog.
